MAN CITY INFO VIA THE ALPS "McVittee!" #626a

The following is going out via the MCIVTA distribution list as it's definitely of interest to Blues out there. The event takes place on Thursday so would be too late for the next issue of MCIVTA.

INVITE

We are delighted to invite you to witness City's newest weapon. There may have been two Phil Parkes, numerous Robsons and Cloughs, Trevor and Gerry Francis (not to mention the Charltons), but...

There's Only One Jimmy Grimble

"There's Only One Jimmy Grimble" is a new film that will warm the hearts of anyone who has ever:

  • totally misjudged an attempt to play offside
  • re-lived that classy turn in their head (not to mention taking Jimmy Hill through it for the post match conference)
  • thought they were completely undervalued in the team
  • remembered that wonder goal they scored for the under 14s (in a friendly, against nine men, with the wind going for them)

In fact, anyone who has ever kicked a ball - especially if they've kicked it into the wrong net. We are delighted to invite you to a very special screening at Planet Hollywood.

Date: Thursday July 27, 2000
Venue: Planet Hollywood, Coventry St, London W1
6.30pm - Drinks and nibbles
7.30pm - Screening of There's Only One Jimmy Grimble

"There's Only One Jimmy Grimble" tells of an outsider - a City fan in a United world. In the school team by default, he must help them win the cup to impress the new girl, save his teacher's dignity, deflect his mother away from her boyfriend, fulfil an old woman's dreams... and generally make things OK. With a sky blue shirt on his back, and 30 year old boots, what could go wrong?

"There's Only One Jimmy Grimble", which opens on August 25, stars British film's strongest defenders - Ray Winstone and Robert Carlyle (the Julian Dicks and Graeme Souness of celuloid!) as well as Gina McKee and outstanding newcomer Lewis McKenzie.
