Hi, My name is Pete Fanning and i grew up in the shadows of main road. I was a "can i mind your car sir boy" in the sixties and early seventies the "heady" days. We owned the toffee shop on Claremont rd , next to Murpheys news shop and there was a chippy next door to us,,,,can't remember the name but as you can imagine i spent a little time in there. We owned the shop from around 69 thru 74 then we came to the states. Before that we lived on Thornton rd which was right around the corner. There wasn,t many games that me and are kid (my bro Tony Fanning) that we didn,t get into at 3/4 time, when the gates would open and we could get in for free. But we were still minding the cars i promise .

We would also spend hours playing on the the old buses lined up around the grounds. I'm a natural born and raised a red fan, can you believe that, born under the lights of main rd and a red fan. Maybe its because i saw all the pissed of blues fans all the time and said thats not for me, but it's because my whole family was red and therefore so was i , thank god. But anyway i have great memories of those days and wouldn't trade them for anything.
