TRUE BLUE STORIES
WHY BLUE Roger Shore
Brought up on the back streets of Wythenshawe and my Dad took me to my first
game on March 5, 1960. City Res v Sheff Utd Res. Won 3-0, City scorers
Haydock (2) and Sambrook.
What a memory you say. Not really, I have the porgramme in a frame behind
the bar.
Ever since I used to go to all the home games, plus the Boltons, Prestons,
Burys, etc. Until I went to sea in 1971.
I was extremely lucky to have been a back street kid in Manchester during the
Glory years. The local playing field went from one blue shirt in 1961 to a
conciderable number by the late 60's.
Fondest memory....right behind the goal when Tommy Booth scored v Everton in
semi at Villa Park. Worst memory...every bloody loss and relegation...how
they break my heart...but I love em all the same and always will.
Now I'm lying on the beach in sunny Florida and although I rarely get to see
the lads they are always there. Thanks for world service, KK and now the
internet.
