TRUE BLUE STORIES

WHY BLUE

Scott Moore

I have been a City fan for as long as I can remember. I suppose its because my Dad is a City fan, my Mum is a City fan and all the rest of my family are City fans. So when I was born in 1977 I didn't realise what lay in store for me- endless ribbing by so-called scum fans about games they haven't even been to, heartache when the opposition score the winning goal in the 90th minute after you've stood in the freezing cold for 2 hours and have a long drive home after the game (Coventry away this year, many others) and general frustration at how the same 11 players can beat the top team in the land one week yet lose to the bottom club the next! That's what you get for being a City fan I suppose.

One claim to fame that I do have is that my Grandad used to play for the Blues. Albeit he was a reserve player for most of his time at Maine Road until injury forced him to quit, he knows people such as Roy Clarke and Freddie Pye and still has a lot of friends at the ground.

My first memory of watching the blues is a second division league match against Barnsley with the likes of Derek Parlane, Steve Kinsey, Neil McNab and Mick McCarthy playing. I think it was about 1983/4 but as I was so young my recollections are not too clear - I do remember that the game was a draw though.

My support for the Blues will never fade - City are in my heart, they are MY team, and I will be 110% behind them forever. Although I haven't seen City win anything they are still MY team - something every fan should feel in their soul.
