TRUE BLUE STORIES
WHY BLUE Dave Griffiths
I became a blue through normal circumstances ie.My Dad. He was the same
and my Grandad became a blue because, living in Moss Side when he was a
lad, he was able to make a bit of money from collecting returnable
bottles from inside the Kippax and get the refund from the shop. I am
now working in Cairo so after 21 years of regular watching of the blues
I am now limited to the odd match at Christmas when I am back home.
My dad took me to my first game when I was 5 and I'm afraid all I
remember about it is going into the ground through the junior turnstiles
in the Kippax, which I continued to do until I was 17! My oldest
memories of a game is playing Juventus in the UEFA cup. I'm now unable
to visit Maine Road for every game as I am working abroad but I look
forward to seeing Big Niall back at The Academy next season.
